What happened to the Scuba class?

Elisa D.

Could this be used to draw up a joint will?

ak S.

Elisa, joint wills are a bad idea and a good lawyer will tell you that.

Craig S.

I agree with ak, spouses will generally not want a single Joint will, but rather each will typically have their own. The $750.00 package contemplates a married couple.

John R.

Unless you’re planning on living together or like the idea of giving your money and/or children to the state, this is a great deal.

John R.

ooops that was supposed to be, unless you’re planning on living FOREVER

Sharon B.

I’ve known Redler for a very long time. A stand up guy who will steer you based on you best interests not his. This is a great deal!

Kim R.

Would this be suitable for a married couple? Would there be any additional fees involved?

Craig S.

Kim R. An oversight on my part – We can do one for each spouse for married couples.

Kim R.

So, just to be clear… A married couple should purchase two, one for each spouse? And could there be any additional fees involved, such as filing fees?

Michael H.

This is what I would like to know, also. Can I purchase one for myself and one for my wife? And are there any “hidden” fees or just fees that are yet undisclosed that might be added later on? Thank you!

Craig S.

Kim and Mike, for the one price, we will accommodate a married couple, that is to say, one for each of you. There are no hidden fees. Neither Missouri nor Illinois requires any fees or filing of wills or powers of attorneys (prior to death anyway). By the way the add does not mention, our attorneys are only licensed in Missouri and Illinois.

Julie L.

Would a single person with no kids have any purpose for a deal like this?

Craig S.

Julie, Yes. In the event you become disabled (not dead but disabled) if you do not have a Power of Attorney, your family will have to go to a probate court to ask that a guardian and/or conservator be appointed. In order to handle your affairs – to even access your money to pay a doctor or your rent or to have your grass cut, your family would have to get the express permission of the judge. It is a gargantuan pain. Its like being in perpetual probate as long as you are sick. Also, if you don’t want a court to decide where your property goes, a will is in order. Call us if you want more details.

What about drawing up a trust for your assets (mainly your house)? Do you offer this service and how much would it typically cost?

Michael H.

OOPS! I jumped the gun and assumed I needed one for each of us—I bought two!!! SIGH…. : (

Lucy R.

Where is your office located?

Lucy R.

Oops. Never mind. Just found the fine print!

My husband and I just moved to MO, we currently have no will. My question is if we were to move back to VA (or somewhere else) in the next several years, would our will(s) then be invalid because we are no longer residents of MO…or how does that work?

Craig S.

Nathan, I do prepare trusts. In fact, they are far more popular than wills. The cost for a trust varies depending on your needs. A basic trust isn’t that expensive. If you have children with special needs, beneficiaries with problems (ie drugs, gambling etc.), inlaws you hate, tax issues or asset protection issues these issues add a little additional fee. If you determine that a trust will serve you better, I will apply the $750 credit towards the preparation of a trust package. Thanks!

Craig S.

Brenda, Welcome to MO! You need a local estate plan! If you move out of MO, I cannot say with certainty that documents we do here will be valid in other states. While there is a good chance they would be valid, I would always suggest having documents reviewed by a local attorney whenever you relocate. Having said that, trusts are MUCH more likely to be valid wherever life takes you. If you relocate often, you will be better served by a trust as opposed to a will (many other advantages to a trust also). We will apply the groupon credit towards a trust if you determine that it will serve you better. Thanks!

Nathan H.

Thank you for responding Craig! If I were to buy two of these, one for me and one for my wife, could I use mine towards the will/POA and my wife apply hers towards the trust?

Thanks again!

Michael H.

Thanks to John S. at GROUPON for not charging me for two of these valuable GROUPONS! I had bought two, thinking I needed one for me and one for my wife, but then found out I overbought. GROUPON is a good deal! : )

Craig S.

Nathan – this is an EXTREME discount. I think I need to limit to one per family, or my wife will kill me! If we do a joint trust for you and your wife and take the $750 off, its still a great deal!

Craig S.

Nathan – by the way, a joint trust (unlike a joint will) is very common when there is no tax planning. Come on in and I’ll go over the particulars!

How much (estimate) for a complete package including will or trust, POA, & living will for my wife and I to protect our home and about a half doz accounts after Groupon applied?

Sara J.

I’m interested in a living trust: how much do they typically cost when there are no children, no spouse (yet) and the one major asset is the home?

Craig S.

David and Sara: My Trust package runs form about $1500 on up. This trust is suitable for most people. If you have beneficiaries with special needs, or other issues, tax problems, or if you need asset protection it goes up. Whatever the price, take $750 off! If you missed the deal, call me anyway, I’ll make it attractive for you. Thanks!
