- Learn basic photography techniques & aesthetics
- Document wildlife in Toronto Zoo, High Park, or Lynde Shores
Wildlife photography captures rare moments typically unseen by human eyes, such as prairie-dog stampedes and buffalo town-hall meetings. Record democracy in its most natural habitat with today's Groupon: for $59, you get a two-hour Photography 101 nature-walk workshop from Nature's Photo Adventures (a $150 value). Today's Groupon is valid for scheduled classes at the Toronto Zoo, High Park in Toronto, or Lynde Shores in Whitby. Admission to the Toronto Zoo (up to $23) is not included in the cost of the workshop.
During Nature's Photo Adventures' workshops, 8 to 20 students work with experienced raptor and falcon photographer Rob Palmer to learn the basics of photographing birds, animals, and landscapes. Aim lenses at the lakefront flora and avian inhabitants of High Park, the exotic denizens of the Toronto Zoo, or at the confused scuba enthusiasts at Cranberry Marsh wetlands of Lynde Shores. A two-hour photo walk begins by covering shutter speed, aperture, and ISO, then advances to teaching students how to use their histograms and understand the tonal levels displayed in them. Still-film neophytes discuss basics of image composition and lighting backgrounds before practicing theory and squirrel-whispering skills amid the majesty of nature. All skill levels are welcome to glean the insights and advice of their wildlife guide, but students must provide their own digital camera. Click here to peruse a schedule of available class dates; more will be added as necessary.
