By the end of summer 2015, Groupon customers will have written and submitted more than 32 million tips and ratings. In honor of Customer Favorites Week, we’ve collected some of our favorites from a handful of our top businesses. While the businesses may be specific, the advice and recommendations are often universal—especially when it comes to the topic of public nudity.
Tips For The Boat
The Business: The Catalina Flyer, a ferry that transports up to 600 passengers to scenic Catalina Island from Newport Beach, California.
What We Learned From Customers: The short trip is rife with opportunities to see pods of dolphins and whales, but you’ll miss them if you’re cowering below-deck with your face in a paper bag. The sea is a cruel mistress, but our kind users have offered these valuable tips for avoiding the curse of her sickness:
- 32 customers advised taking Dramamine to cope with seasickness, whereas 12 recommended some form of ginger (especially candied).
- We think user Bonnie B. has the best idea: toss a “1/2 pill of Bonine, ginger candy, ginger snaps, and ginger ale” down the hatch, and enjoy your ride upon the mighty sea.
The Business: Studio Movie Grill, a dine-in movie theater chain with more than 20 locations across the country.
What We Learned From Customers: Go for the movie, stay for the fact that they will bring you chocolate chip cookies, cups of melted butter for popcorn, and alcohol (among other things) at the push of a button. Here are a few specifics:
- 336 customers recommended the coconut chicken tenders.
- 307 customers paid compliments to the sweet potato fries.
- 69 customers sung the praises of warm chocolate chip cookies.
- 35 customers waxed poetic on the milkshake.
- 1 blessed individual—Amanda F.—alerted us to the presence of Unlimited Pizza Wednesdays. We are forever in her debt.
Tips For The Spa
The Business: Spa Castle, a spa and sauna complex that combines bathing and wellness traditions from Korea, Japan, and northern Europe.
What We Learned From Customers: Some international spa traditions are not for the, ahem, bashful.
- Be prepared to see nudity! Also, prepare to spend a few hours at the spa; it is very relaxing and joyful. – Angela A.
- Don’t gawk at the naked bodies! – Kate F.
- If you are afraid of nudity, don’t go! – Ashley N.
- Bring your own towel. The larger, the better. – Cassandra C., presumably referring to the nudity potential of smaller towels.
Excellent advice for the spa and life, Cassandra C.
