10 Cool Pools for Vacation Inspiration

BY: Sarah Gorr |Jan 25, 2018

When you look at some of the hottest resorts, they all have one thing in common: cool pools. And it makes sense—daydreams about your next vacation aren't quite complete without an image of you kicking your toes in the water, frosty, tropical cocktail in hand. To inspire your trip planning, we scoured the site not merely for hotels with pools, but hotels with truly droolworthy cool pools. Check them out below:

Omni Scottsdale Resort and Spa at Montelucia | Scottsdale, AZ

This pool in sunny Scottsdale is yet another with a view that's one-of-a-kind. Considering that the temperature regularly creeps upwards of 100 degrees all summer long, a pool you'll want to spend a lot of time in is a must. That's why we love the stunning view of Arizona's famous red-rock formations that you'll get from the poolside. When it cools off at night in the off season, the poolside fire pits make the whole area cozy as heck.

The Greenbrier | White Sulphur Springs, WV

A walloping 26 presidents have stayed at The Greenbrier since opening in 1778, so a dip here means you're basically getting a history lesson in with your laps. Though there's an outdoor pool, its the indoor pool that impresses. Built in the 1940s, its grecian-style columns give it that old-school glamour.

Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort and Spa | San Luis Obispo, CA

At this wellness retreat there's not only a mineral tub in every room, but a couple of secluded outdoor pools as well, all fed by the same rejuvenating mineral waters. Surrounded by the lush greens of the landscaping and the canopy overhead, it's the kind of pool that makes you feel like you're worlds away.

Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate | ChampionsGate, FL

It's only fitting that a resort just 6 miles from the "Most Magical Place on Earth" has one of the most magical outdoor pools we've ever seen. It's got fountains, wading pools, and waterfalls, but the true pièce de résistance is it s 850-foot lazy river. Kids (and grownups) of all ages can kick back and float along at a gentle speed, which pretty much sounds like heaven to us.

The Golden Nugget | Las Vegas, NV

There are pools, there are cool pools, and then there's The Tank. The Tank is the product of a $30 million renovation at The Golden Nugget. Lauded by CNN Travel, Travel Channel, and Condé Nast Traveler as one of the most amazing pools, it's not hard to see why. It has three levels, 17 private cabanas, and a 200,000 gallong shark tank aquarium with a slide that cuts right through it!

Sheraton Waikiki | Honolulu, HI

Worrying about the pool when you're on vacation in Hawaii might seem kind of counterintuitive—after all, aren't you there for the beaches? But that's only because you haven't seen the pool at the Sheraton Waikiki. Called the "Edge of Waikiki", it's only for ages 16 and up, but the real perk is that it's an infinity pool that's just slightly above level with the sea. This creates a mirage effect that makes it seem as if swimmers are in an endless ocean without worrying about strong tides or hungry sea creatures.

La Haut Resort | Soufriere, St. Lucia

There's nothing better than a pool with a view, which is why rooftop pools are so popular. But what if instead of a rooftop pool, you had a mountaintop pool? La Haut Resort is situated high in the hills, which means its pool has a completely unobstructed view of the Pitons and the valley below.

Jay Peak Resort | Jay, VT

At this Vermont resort, snowy climes can't stop summer fun. The indoor water park has just about every attraction under the sun to guarantee a great time. Want thrills? Try the La Chute, a water slide with a 65-foot drop and speeds up to 45 miles per hour. Want chill? Hit the lazy river. Want something completely different? Hop on the Flowrider and surf inside.

Omni Austin Hotel Downtown | Austin, TX

This rooftop pool simply oozes class and sophistication. Take in views of the city skyline, or lounge deckside with a cocktail from the bar. It's as simple as that, really.

Kuta Resort | Bali, Indonesia

Definitely the most far-flung locale on our list, this pool in the tropical paradise of Bali has one perk that no other pool on our list does: the ability to take a dip right from your room door. That's right, the resort has a slew of rooms whose back doors open up right into the pool, making it as easy as possible to cool off from a day in the sun.
