How to Rent Tools from Home Depot

Renting from Home Depot is easy, whether you visit in person or check availability online:

  • Visit the Tool Rental Center online or stop by during normal store hours—most locations are open seven days a week.
  • Tool rentals are first come, first served. You can’t reserve tools in advance, but you can check availability online and call your local store to confirm.
  • To rent, you must:
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, passport, military ID, or Mexican CID)
    • Use a credit card in your name for the deposit
  • Rental periods are flexible—you can rent by the hour, day, week, or month depending on your project needs.
  • Prices vary by location, and tools are subject to availability.
  • You can add optional Damage Protection for 15% of the rental price. This covers repair costs if a tool breaks from normal use—giving you peace of mind during the job.
  • Visit the Home Depot Tool Rental Center online or any day of the week during normal store hours. 
  • Tool rentals are on a first come, first serve basis and reservations are not allowed (but you can check online and call ahead about availability).
