Some restaurants make you uncomfortable with their over-the-top, pretentious, nanoscopic entrees and servers with monocles. Others make you uncomfortable in the opposite way: with $3 Bud Light buckets and fries so greasy that each bite increases your self-loathing. You need a happy medium of affordable prices, tasteful ambience and delicious-but-filling meals. That's why there's The Savant Project. The Savant Project located at 1625 Tremont is a mix of urban chic and casual dining and drinking that provides just enough atmosphere without forcing the cool down your throat. They're offering $40 gift certificate for just $20 and they are full of awesome without being full of it.
Savant Project has excellent food and drink for both lunch and dinner. Their menu is full of awesome entrees like the half-pound Angus burger stuffed with Vermont Cheddar cheese and topped with crispy Applewood bacon. For dinner try the raw tuna sashimi in a lime, sesame and wasabi vinagerette? It's like the sushi gods cried a salty sweet tear in the shape of tuna sashimi right into your mouth. And on the hot side, Beef Sliders with ginger, cilantro and cucumber. Unlike White Castle Sliders, these Sliders have ginger, cilantro and cucumber. And they're much bigger, less greasy, and taste good. The drink has a great beer selection including Peak Organic Nut Brown and Harpoon Winter Warmer, as well as about 30 specialty martinis and cocktails like the Mango Mojito.
Savant Project has a 3.5 star average on Yelp. Here's a few reviews...
- "The food is great...Service is great...I think it's quite cozy but still comes off as hip." - Trisha F, Boston, MA
- "I had a blast at Trivia Sunday- sampling more of their drinks...I tried some of their apps- an assortment of unusual quesadillas and some mini tuna burgers (my new fave)." - Anna F, Allston, MA
- "...a swanky, delicious, trendy, but local hotspot...They have cocktail and $15 manicure nights..." - Skylar G, Roxbury, MA
And manicure nights are just the beginning, because when hipsters get together cool stuff happens. Sex & Drugs Trivia on Sundays, half price tapas with drink purchase and What is He/She Thinking? hosted by Ali on Sunday at 5pm. What is that? Who cares? There'll be men and women there, so it won't be a brodeo.
Stop hanging out in dives with food stains on the walls. The Savant Project has a cool design and on the last Tuesday of every month hosts a guest chef. Not a cook, a chef. Chefs make Pine nut crusted, five spice pork tenderloin. Cooks make hot wings in greasy orange goo. Who do you want to have cook your food? Get to the Savant Project, hipster!
