Biking is the most efficient way to travel without a series of well-placed trampolines or knowledge of the comprehensive travel-pod system that crisscrosses Earth. Keep to the street with today’s Groupon: for $60, you get a two-person team registration to the New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride on Sunday, August 21 (up to a $120 value). Participants must register online no earlier than Wednesday, August 17, and no later than Friday, August 19.
The Urban Assault Ride sends biwheeled lads and lasses on a citywide bicycle scavenger hunt, where driven teams of pedal pushers scour St. Louis for checkpoints containing whimsical obstacle courses. Each course remains under wraps until the race, but past colorful challenges have included puzzles, bike jousting, and paperboy relay. Teams will choose their own route and checkpoint order for the concrete journey, speeding off from Langenberg Field in Forest Park before venturing out in search of their list of checkpoints and two mystery checkpoints. The team to cruise through all checkpoints in the shortest amount of time wins, and the top three road-warrior duos will receive prizes for their valiant efforts, such as Timbuk2 bags, Keen shoes, and Urban Assault Ride socks and arm warmers. After crossing the finish line, all teams can celebrate at the after-party, teeming with New Belgium beer, big wheels, and raffle prizes.
Aside from providing an exhilarating experience, the Urban Assault Ride helps promote and encourage bicycle commuting and does its civic cyclical duty by implementing myriad environmental practices and contributing proceeds to local nonprofits such as St. Louis Bicycle Works.

About New Belgium Brewing Urban Assault Ride
The Urban Assault Ride challenges cyclists to speed from obstacle course to obstacle course across their city during eco-friendly scavenger hunts that benefit local charities. Teams draft a road map to try to thwart the competition and be the first to complete the race, pausing at a series of checkpoints, where they must surmount such active roadblocks as slip 'n' slides, bike jousting, and reciting the Iliad in Pig Latin. The first team to conquer each challenge and cross the finish line is declared the victor, but all participants celebrate their efforts at a lively after-party stocked with snacks, beer, nonalcoholic drinks, and prizes.
