About Apple Valley Golf Course
Long known as Apple Valley Country Club, the Apple Valley Golf Course is now open to the public. The decades-old course has several claims to fame, including playing host to celebrities like Frank Sinatra, and President Richard Nixon, who lived on the back nine while writing his book Six Crises. But for golfers, that pales in comparison to the course's most famous pro, Lloyd Mangrum. The World Golf Hall of Famer known as "Mr. Icicle" won 39 times on PGA tour, including the U.S. Open in 1946. When he retired from playing, he returned to Apple Valley where he lived just off the 18th hole.
The course Lloyd Mangrum called home is known for having the best greens in the High Desert, and also features two tennis courts, a pro shop, and a bar and grill.
