AZ on the Rocks won Best Family Weekend Adventure in the AZCentral.com’s Readers’ Choice awards in 2009 and Best DIY Rock Gym by the Phoenix New Times in 2007, and was featured in the Arizona Republic: > * It’s almost like free-soloing, which is climber-speak for scaling vertical cliffs without a rope for protection, except that nagging risk of imminent death is eliminated. – Phoenix New Times > * The climbing gyms, originally created for rock climbers to practice, aren’t just for that anymore. Outdoor climbers make up less than half of the indoor rock-climbing population. You’re more likely to find families - it’s like going to the movies or a skate night - and corporations who are using the indoor climbing as an exercise in bringing employees together to develop team work. – Angela Cara Pancrazio, Arizona Republic
