Since the rise of the Internet, people have struggled to tear their now-useless phone books in half. Bulk up to succeed where others have failed with today’s Groupon: for $40, you get eight one-hour boot-camp sessions from B.U.S.Y. Body Fitness (a $97 value). Classes are scheduled twice weekly for four consecutive weeks, and are held in Collegedale, Shepherd Recreation Center, and picturesque Renaissance Park.
B.U.S.Y. Body Fitness founder and police officer Tonya Ransom tones, tightens, and toughens bodies of all shapes and sizes with challenging, motivating, and supportive boot-camp classes. In each one-hour class, which is limited to 25 students, certified B.U.S.Y. body trainers lead boot campers through spontaneous, creative, and playful workouts, such as impromptu high-five competitions. Tone muscles with full-body resistance training, burn calories in cardio drills, dodge through obstacle courses, race through relays, and beat your best time in personal challenges.
After the workout, students learn to implement long-term lifestyle changes during a question-and-answer session with their trainer, gaining insight on how to work toward safely dropping weight or gradually pushing a broken-down school bus out of the front yard. To enroll, students must be able to briskly and comfortably walk 1 mile, and should come equipped with a towel, mat, bottle of water, cross-training shoes, and comfortable clothes.
