What You'll Get
Though commercial airline developers have toiled to provide such luxuries as hot towels and tiny blankets, consumers long for the simple excitement of wind in their hair. Today's Groupon invigorates inner Icaruses: for $85, you get a biplane ride over downtown Atlanta or over Stone Mountain Park from Biplane Atlanta, plus a free appetizer or dessert at the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant (up to a $178 value).
Biplane Atlanta gives passengers a butterfly's eye view of Atlanta, similar to how James Oglethorpe saw the state when he first helicoptered over it in 1732. With an ace airman at the helm of a fully restored classic biplane, guests will enjoy one of two flights of fancy, each approximately 20 minutes in length ($165 per person). On The Old-Timer flight, you'll soar over downtown Atlanta like a Jeff Blauser home run, getting breathtaking views of Centennial Park, the Georgia Dome, the Georgia Aquarium, and Ted Turner Field. On The Walter Mitty flight, you'll coast past the iconic muraled monadnock, marveling at the granite likenesses of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson while wondering how they'd fare against the Mount Rushmore carvings in a basketball game.
After your biplane lands to the cheers of thousands of handkerchief-waving onlookers, take a ticker-tape parade to the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant and enjoy a free appetizer, such as the lobster risotto squares, or dessert, such as the lemon coconut cake. The restaurant is flight-decked out to memorialize World War II aviators and other military airmen, and offers exhilarating views of planes taking off from, landing at, and lounging around DeKalb-Peachtree Airport. Call ahead to reserve your flight time.
Five Kudzu users give Biplane Atlanta a perfect five-star average. Kudzu reviewers give the 57th Fighter Group Restaurant an average of 4.5 stars, 90% of more than 190 Urbanspooners recommend it, and 32 Yelpers give it a 3.5-star average.
- I don't care for flying commercial flights or even climbing ladders but this is in a class by itself. Can't wait to do it again and again. – Cynthi, Kudzu
- The crab cakes are some of the best I've had. And the service is spectacular - everyone is so friendly and smiling. And in the dining room, you get a front row seat where you can watch the planes take off and land at PDK. – IngaM82, Kudzu

About Biplane Rides Over Atlanta
Biplane Rides Over Atlanta, Inc.'s practiced pilots leap into the air in fully restored antique aircraft to grant passengers a glimpse of natural and manmade majesties from above. In the open-air cockpit of a classic antique biplane, adventurers can taste the whipping winds of high altitudes over Downtown Atlanta, glimpsing Turner Field, the Georgia Dome, and Centennial Olympic Park, where the Farmer's Almanacs of previous eras are put out to pasture. Alternately, they can surmount the igneous crown of Stone Mountain and soar above the Mississippi riverboats that dot the surrounding lakes, or gently flit over the cityscape bathed in a golden aura during a romantic sunset flight.
