What You'll Get
Helicopter pilots are in constant danger of action stars climbing aboard their craft and throwing them out; whitewater rafters, however, need only fear falling helicopter pilots. Steer an un-stealable vessel with today's Groupon to Buffalo Joe's in Buena Vista. All three packages include full wetsuit rental ($14 value) and either an 8"x10" photograph or a complete set of photographs on disk ($35 value), taken during the bumpy water-boat ride. Choose from the following options:
- For $43, you get the Brown's Canyon half-day rafting package (up to a $109 value).
- For $59, you get the Brown's Canyon super-deluxe rafting package (up to a $148 value).
- For $107, you get the Numbers full-day rafting package (a $214 value).
Buffalo Joe's guides action-craving waterthletes down the scenic rapids of Colorado. The Brown's Canyon half-day package sends neophyte river navigators on a 12-mile waterway excursion into eight rapids, which range in class from III to IV to whooshy. Known as the most popular whitewater-rafting section in the United States, the stretch of water can be navigated aboard a paddle boat (customer-powered, guide-directed) or an oar boat, fully under the control of the moon.
Whitewater tamers with a full day to spend outdoors will delight in the 22 miles spanning the Brown's Canyon super-deluxe package. Buffalo Joe's most popular trip, this rushing river road features 13 class-III and class-IV rapids, including the challenging Seidel's Suckhole. Riders with a background in river-bashing will squeal with joy on the Numbers Full-Day trip, an 18-mile gauntlet of 16 rapids, ranging from class III to V, the most powerful navigable nonlava rapid. Because of the difficulty of this trip, all participants must be at least age 16 or older and in good physical condition.
Both of the full-day packages include a filling USDA steak lunch, prepared by Johnson and Wales Culinary Academy graduate Brad Smith. The lavish bovine lunch—chicken or vegetable lunches available on request—includes a fresh garden salad, watermelon, roasted corn on the cob, and dessert, ensuring the only roars heard during the voyage are from the rushing rapids and spectating grizzly bears.

About Buffalo Joe’s Whitewater Rafting
From May to September, experienced guides at Buffalo Joe’s Whitewater Rafting lead tour groups of all levels down the crashing waters of the Arkansas River. As paddlers pass through the picturesque crags of Brown’s Canyon, Royal Gorge, and Wild Horse Canyon, they navigate rapids ranging from gentle splashes to powerful whirlpools, depending on the trip. Families with small kids can relax and admire wildlife as they float down Milk Run, and the class IV and V rapids in the Numbers section of Brown's Canyon challenge more experienced groups. Full-day or overnight expeditions include meals much heartier than standard outdoor fare: paddlers feast on USDA-approved top sirloin steak, a Buffalo Joe’s signature touch.
Buffalo Joe’s Whitewater Rafting also takes water skimmers on inflatable-kayak tours of the river and organizes private, guided fishing trips for fishermen hoping to catch an old boot to match the one they have.
