It's possible to swim, cycle, and run through any fast-paced business, accounting, or crosstown, uptown, all-around course outside city limits with the endurance of a trained triathlete. Find out if you'd like to with today's Groupon: a day of triathlon training at Chelsea Piers. Four hours spent swimming in the 50-yard indoor swimming pool, running on the quarter-mile indoor track, and taking a spinning class with The Sports Center at Chelsea Piers' world-class triathletes will help you find out if an event that's surging in popularity for kids can help keep you young at heart, too.
Training is led by Scott Berlinger, who is the head coach and founder of The Sports Center's nationally ranked training team and has participated in more than 25 triathlons. The Sports Center's director of personal training and BlueStreak program (sport-specific athletic training) director also guide participants while they wet their feet. The other trainer, Andrew Kalley is a triathlon coach and expert (with six first-place triathlon awards) who worked with Berlinger to put together a safe, half-day program. You'll learn about triathlon history, preparation, racing, transitions, technique, and everything else you need to know to stay safe and get ahead while you're burning calories and building muscle in one of the world's most intense exercises. The four-hour training and education session is designed with experts and novices in mind, so it doesn't matter if you're out-of-shape, already completed a triathlon, or completed an out-of-shape triathlon.
