Being a good fighter means being physically and mentally prepared for everything, from withstanding a spontaneous hailstorm of roundhouse kicks to maintaining composure around Clay "The Carpenter" Guida's romantic, flowing locks. Keep body and mind at the ready with today's Groupon: for $45, you get a punch card for 10 group martial-arts workouts at Warrior Boxing in Downers Grove.

Competitive and recreational fighters harden bodies and sharpen reflexes for the ring in Warrior Boxing’s arsenal of classes. Designed for battlers ages 14 and older, one-hour co-ed instruction in boxing, kenpo karate, submission grappling, and Ryu jiu-jitsu promote strength and endurance and extend reach better than donning platform shoes sewn to telephone cords. Bringing more than 25 years of experience training competitive boxers, Bob Miller motivates newcomers through storms of jabs and hooks in respectful, supportive group trainings. Because kenpo classes are ranked, newcomers may only enroll in yellow- and orange-belt or basics classes, but boxing, jiu-jitsu, and grappling are open to all. Double-x-chromosome holders looking for tailored training can also enroll in women’s-only boxing classes, where participants can lose weight and gain confidence in an environment rife with peer support and fewer Godfather references. Check the scheduling page to view class times assorted by tabs.

Warrior Boxing’s spick-and-span training center sports two boxing rings, heavy and speed bags, and an avalanche of tools to keep warriors from getting buried in their opponent's blows or incurring the wrath of an inflatable clown. Towels and shower facilities are also provided on site.
