The horse and buggy was a popular method of early transportation, far surpassing the bug and buggy, which could barely move and was often destroyed by squeamish gunslingers. Saddle up with today's Groupon to Chiron Equestrian Services in Saco. Choose from the following options:

Taking its name from the revered mythical centaur Chiron, Chiron Equestrian Services brings out the inner equine lover in everyone with fun lessons and parties for students of all ages and experience. During horseback-riding lessons, instructor and horse master Kathleen Gallant leads students in learning English–style riding, focusing on finding their balance and center rather than learning Western looting and lasso techniques. Once students master the fundamentals, they can progress to more advanced riding styles.
Alternatively, groups of up to eight cowboys and cowgirls can enjoy fun pony parties for any birthday, Horse Independence Day, or celebratory occasion. During the party, kids learn how to properly care for equine companions during a 30-minute grooming-and-learning session, followed by a 30-minute riding session with up to three horses and attendants. Parties also include fun games and activities, invitations, and party favors.
An avid horse lover, Kathleen Gallant has trained thoroughbreds and instructed students for more than 20 years or 160 horse years. Gallant's talents have led her to coach the equestrian team in the 1999 Equine Special Olympics in Maine, a role she reprised in 2010.
Chiron Equestrian Services
A coach at the first Equine Special Olympics in 1999 and again in 2011, North American Riding for the Handicapped–certified trainer Kathleen Gallant possesses a deep, long-lasting love for horses and their ability to help others. After attending equestrian vocational school as a teenager and working at several race tracks, Kathleen developed her passion for jumping and dressage and began teaching others, which she has been doing for more than two decades. Today, English riding lessons are the focus at Chiron Equestrian Services, as well as therapeutic riding for children and adults with special needs. Both private and group lessons begin with the establishment of a balanced, centered riding style and, once these basics are mastered, move on to more advanced riding techniques such as hunt seat, jumping, and dressage.
