Circuit Works’ certified instructors guide students through 60-second intervals of cardio and resistance moves designed to maximize calorie burn by engaging fast-twitch muscle fibers. As attuned to clients’ wishes as a psychic-turned-psychotherapist, teachers demonstrate goal-specific variations of exercises during fun, energizing classes. The circuits work the entire body at a safe, customizable pace as students rotate through stations to move their muscles on treadmills, spin bikes, and weight machines. Specialized workouts may focus extra attention on specific muscle systems such as the legs and abs, and the chest, back, biceps, and tentacles. Classes last about an hour and accommodate up to 20 participants; consult the Brentwood and Venice schedules for dates and times.
First-time clients only. May not have taken a class, including free classes, or private training sessions at either location.
Circuit Works' more than 10 trainers subscribe to the Zig-Zag theory, which states that to get in shape, one must rotate quickly between engaging fast-twitch and slow-twitch muscle fibers. The nationally certified, acclaimed instructors teach fast-paced circuit-training exercises that alternate between aerobic and anaerobic exercises in minute-long intervals. These engage both kinds of twitches and are a step up from the more ancient method of covering someone in bugs, then covering them fewer bugs. The staff changes exercise routines weekly, fending off not only mental boredom, but the plateaus that can arrest physical progress.
