Benjamin Franklin famously discovered electricity while attempting to invent kiteboarding during a thunderstorm. Discover the keys to a safer sporting experience with today’s Groupon: for $99, you get a three-hour introductory kiteboarding lesson from Cloud Nine Kiteboarding (a $250 value).
Cloud Nine Kiteboarding teaches windswept students the basics of boarding while tied to a kite. The three-hour Discovery package takes place on the balmy beaches of South Florida, where skilled instructors teach their protégés how to combine the powers of wind and surf. Students will learn how to read the wind's mind and rig a four-line bow kite, then launch a power kite for their inaugural transatlantic flight. The lesson also shows aspiring boarders how to activate all the right safety devices and perform deep-water body drags and self-rescue techniques.
Cloud Nine uses Kahoona kites and Redline performance bars, which have been proven safe, durable, and easy to use while multitasking on the water. In order to ensure ideal launch conditions, all lessons take weather forecasts and Ogopogo's vacation planner into account.
Cloud Nine Kiteboarding
The instructors at Cloud Nine Kiteboarding are nothing if not true watermen, spending much of their time traveling and searching for the perfect wave. By scouring the coast of South Florida, they’ve built a collection of their favorite sun-soaked spots, which they take students to during kiteboarding lessons for all skill levels. At these Gulf Stream–fed locations, the water is warm and clear enough to spot porpoises, manatees, manta rays, green sea turtles, and animated Disney creatures below. The school uses only trusted equipment, such as Kahoona kites and Redline Performance bars, and instructors create specific lesson plans to help each student progress at their own pace.
