Before Jack Cohen founded Cohen’s Fashion Optical in 1927, eyeglasses were considered more of a corrective tool than a fashion accessory. He envisioned a society where people sported eyeglasses that complemented their facial shape and style rather than just sharpen their vision. With this in mind, he began to sell stylish frames out of a pushcart amid New York’s bustling Orchard Street.

Today, Cohen’s Fashion Optical has expanded to more than 100 locations nationwide. At each location, doctors inspect ocular health and assess visual acuity with thorough eye exams. Then, the staff helps patients or fashion-forward Mr. Potato Heads select from more than 2,000 flattering frames from 50 designers, such as Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, and Prada.
