A recently discovered alternative to the indoors, going "outside" offers adventurous explorers exposure to things such as wind, sunshine, and the naturally occurring mazes found in corn fields. Leave the indoors with today's Groupon: for $25, you get four Cornival wrist bands—which grant access to several attractions, including a corn maze (a $40 value)—plus two children’s pony rides (a $14 value) at Dave's Pumpkin Patch in West Sacramento (a combined value of $54).
Dave's Pumpkin Patch cradles visitors with a hearty supply of hay and a wide assortment of pumpkins for the picking. Each of the four Cornival wristbands provides all-day access to a bevy of autumn attractions such as the Super Slide, the Hay Bounce'm, the sunflower maze, and the corn maze, an artfully mowed, immersive exploratory experience. For a more farmhands-on experience, guests can enjoy old-fashioned hayrides or explore the Chickensville and Friends petting zoo, the pig racetrack—where the pigs slough their way to photogenic finishes—and the pony corral—where pony-based dreams come true and true laughter comes straight from kiddies' mouths. On the weekends, Dave's also busts regularly scheduled "Punkin Chunkins," the traditional time when farmers sling massive orange gourds into orbit, fertilizing the stratosphere for future generations of flying jack-o'-lanterns.
With the entire season situated on one property, families and friends can browse for their ideal gourd while shaking hands with the farmers, flora, and fauna that make the season a success time and time again. For extra autumn enjoyment, feel free to schedule a visit around an on-site event such as the scarecrow contest, which takes place from October 18 to 24, or the annual craft fair on October 23–24.
Reviews
Though reviews are limited, Dave's Pumpkin Patch has received a four-star average from five Yelpers.
- This is an easy place to spend a few hours at just looking at all the pumpkins and taking photos of all the weird ones. – SHANNON A.
- Lots of fun stuff for my daughter to do here, from tractor rides, to pony rides, to a bounce house. We could easily spend an hour or 2 here playing around. Yearly tradition, and it won't stop. – Ryan L.

About Dave's Pumpkin Patch
In eighth grade, David Vierra took a field trip to Apple Hill that changed his life. He returned determined to grow pumpkins, and at age 13 he began his first patch. That passion hasn’t waned in the last two decades—the fifth-generation farmer still cultivates a 10-acre patch, where gourds of many varieties and sizes await plucking. David also tends to his grandfather’s garden and 800 acres of specialty vegetables such as heirloom tomatoes, black seedless watermelons, and six varieties of hard squash. Though he maintains his farm through hard work, Dave's Pumpkin Patch opens its doors to the public every autumn and, under the name Dave's Xmas Trees, every winter for Christmas Trees. Features of the farm include 12 family-friendly attractions such as pony rides, pig races, and a pumpkin cannon that launches gourds 500 yards into the air.
