Scientists agree that children are our future, which is why most children are sealed in time capsules with a flashlight and a stack of magazines. Give a child something he or she will really dig with today's deal: for $15, you get four admissions to DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville. Admission to the museum is normally $8.50 for anyone under 60, $6.50 for ages 60 and over in October, and $7.50 for ages 60 and over after October. All four admissions must be redeemed in one visit.
DuPage Children's Museum promotes an adult-child partnership in open-ended learning and discovery for children ages 6 months to 10 years. With admission, you and three children or grown children can explore "learning neighborhoods" designed to stimulate interest in math, science, the arts, and toothbrushes. The Build It neighborhood houses give kids hands- and hammers-on experience in the Construction House. Superheroes in training can get the Superman treatment in the AirWorks wind tunnel. The interactive exhibit The Play's the Thing! gives young thespians a stage on which to create their own characters using costumes, props, puppets, and the current space-themed set, complete with a rocket ship. Three Young Explorers neighborhoods are also available for children ages 6–24 months who enjoy bright tones, toys, and pondering the difference between circles and squares.
Founded in 1987 as a ragtag collection of traveling exhibits, DuPage Children's Museum grew into its own temporary building in 1989, followed by a pilot location in 1992, finally setting in its colorful and accommodating Naperville location in 2001. The museum's exterior dutifully reflects its playful innards with eye-catching splashes of yellow, red, and blue. Be sure to check out any special events or activities planned during your visit, such as Family Fun Friday Nights, when exhibits remain open until 8 p.m. (the cost of events is not included with this Groupon).
