The slow evolution of gymnastics rendered certain ineffective events—such as the perpendicular bars and off-balance beam—obsolete. Train on well-established apparatuses with today’s Groupon: for $32, you get one month of children’s gymnastics classes at Eagle Ridge Gymnastics in Rio Rancho (a $64.18 value).
A full-scale training center, Eagle Ridge Gymnastics' skilled instructors school tykes and pre-teens in proper tumbling techniques through a series of weekly 45–60-minute classes. Toddlers learn architectural acrobatics in a coed preschool program that draws on vaults, bars, and beams to help wee ones build motor skills, self-confidence, and structurally sound body pyramids. Kinder-gym develops athletic capabilities with a noncompetitive course designed to work on strength, flexibility, and balance.
The school-age classes, divided into separate boys' and girls' programs, give aspiring body-benders a chance to train for all of the requisite Olympic events while showing off ring-tossing skills and pommel horseback-riding abilities. Housed in a 15,000-square-foot facility, Eagle Ridge boasts a beautiful lobby and mountaintop mezzanine, allowing proud parents an unobstructed view of their pinwheel progeny.
This Groupon is good for one class per week for a month. Check the schedule for times.
Eagle Ridge Gymnastics
Though they lead classes for toddlers, children, and teenagers only, the staff at Eagle Ridge Gymnastics holds their facilities to Olympic standards. Inside the 15,000 square-foot studio, 22 experienced instructors guide boys and girls ages 6–15 toward mastery of an in-ground trampoline, two vault runways, six high and low beams, and a full-size spring tumble track. In a preschool area, they help toddlers explore child-sized bars, rings, and beams while pausing for interviews with toddler sports reporters.
From behind a lobby's floor-to-ceiling glass windows or on a mezzanine level, parents can watch as their offspring join in competitive and recreational classes, holiday camps, and summer camps. They can also join in during parent-tot gymnastics classes.
