Adults & children sprint through corn pathways, hurdle hay bales & enjoy farm-fresh post-race breakfast with all-day admission
Running was popular in Europe long before it caught on in America, which is why most races are measured in kilometers instead of miles and why most of the Pilgrims were eaten by bears. Race to the top of the food chain with today's Groupon to The Farmstead 5K Challenge on October 29, 2011, in Meridian. Choose between the following options:
- For $5, you get a fun run race registration for one child (a $10 value). For $15, you get a 5K race registration for one adult (a $30 value).
Organized by The Farmstead Corn Maze & Pumpkin Festival, The Farmstead 5K Challenge sends fleet-footed runners of all ages charging through miles of corn pathways and over diverse obstacles. Adults hurtle through 3.1 miles of corn pathways, army-crawl through The Straw, and surmount the summit of The Pinnacle. Children careen through a series of pumpkin scrambles and hay-bale hurdles, taking care not to stumble into a roaming quartet of crooning scarecrows. Runners celebrate conquering the trail with a post-race all-Idaho farm-fresh breakfast, as well an all-day pass to The Farmstead Corn Maze & Pumpkin Festival and its meandering 18-acre corn maze. Visitors can furnish doorsteps with more than 30 varieties of gourds sprouting from Farmstead's 14-acre pumpkin patch, treat adrenaline glands to a glimpse of a live pig race, or trampoline leap on the multicolored jumping pillow.
