About First Position Dance Arts

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Lisa Welsh, director, is often quoted "I have the best staff on the planet!" All of our teaching staff are professionally trained dancer/choreographers who love to share their gift of dance. First Position is a NO CLIQUE ZONE. We are all there to dance, laugh, sweat, have fun and burn calories!

Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
By keeping the music and dances interesting and easy to follow. No one likes to walk out of class feeling defeated. First Position doesn't just build dancers, we build people. Happy, fit and really kind clients come to First Position.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I started a modern dance studio in my dining room for neighborhood kids 24 years ago. I have the best job on the planet. I get to watch dancers and fitness clients reach their goals on a daily basis!

What do you love most about your job?
The creative expression that comes forth from a client during and after class. Movement allows clients to open their minds to all the possibilities and not get stuck with a mind filled with worry. Dancing is an hour of forgetting, running on a treadmill is an hour of remembering the daily grind.
