We just moved from the south to the north and have never had a basement before. It was so damp that things were getting wet and moldy. I live in the basement of my building complex and it does tend to get really humid, ESEPCIALLY, during the summer time. I bought this in hopes that it would help and it did. I noticed a difference in humidity in a matter of hours. Even if I didn't feel it, i definitely saw it. I kept emptying the "bucket" of water it was collecting. My apartment is now extremely comfortable. Highly recommend it.
