Online Booking - Round of Golf at Sterling Hills Golf Club
Sterling Hills Golf Course is a hidden jewel in Ventura County roughly halfway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. As its name implies, there are elevation changes, but not dramatic ones. The course is very walkable, with a number of excellent views including of the Channel Islands. It is also a fun, interesting and challenging layout without being overly penal or difficult. With six sets of tees, Sterling Hills is truly a track for players of all skill levels. Another advantage is the Camarillo location, which tends to be a cooler option when the sun and heat are overwhelming in the more inland valleys. In fact, Camarillo weather is considered some of the finest in the world, year round. Damian Pascuzzo of the Robert Muir Graves's golf course architecture firm designed Sterling Hills Golf Course in 1999. There is no single signature hole, but half of the eighteen are quite memorable. And there ain’t nothing wrong with any of the other nine. Variety is a strong suit of the course configuration, which includes reachable par fives, four very different par 3’s and par 4’s that vary in length, dogleg direction and elevation change. Of particular note are the greens complexes, which are always kept in excellent condition. Downhill putts can be deceptively quick; two-putting can be quite an achievement if approach shots are not respectful of certain pin positions; undulations and sloping shoulders abound. Strategic thinking is a must. On some holes at Sterling Hills you can reach for your driver and let it rip, while on others strategically positioning yourself off the tee might require a different club selection. Water comes into play on four holes. Practice facilities include a driving range, short game area and putting green. The Pub & Grille offers a full bar and a very tasty assortment of sandwiches, salads, wraps, tenders, burgers, dogs, fries, rings, etc. The vibe is friendly, the staff accommodating, and you’ll always head to the first tee with a smile on your face. Special Note: Sterling Hills received a new cart fleet as of June 2023.
