Getting out of the house is often hampered by the fact that most houses are located inside a bigger and fancier house. Step outside of the house outside of your house with today's Groupon: for $10, you get one entry to the Great Greenville Race on July 30 or August 6 (up to a $20 value). Competitors compete in teams of two, three, or four; organizers will place those who sign up individually on a team.

The Great Greenville Race unleashes puzzle hunters on downtown Greenville, equipped with tricky brain benders and helpful trivia to pilot them through a challenging scavenger hunt. The journey begins during registration, when race mastermind Sabrina Baxter unmasks hints leading to the race’s starting location. For about three hours, teams of two to four Scooby-Doo impersonators peek into hitherto unexplored corners of the urban landscape or traipse momentarily into other dimensions to retrieve the time-sensitive clues. Explorers march into the summer sun also armed with the last-measure Clue Calls, designed to illuminate impenetrable logic and reveal precious answers to stumped or lost participants at the cost of a time delay. The day shepherds hint hunters to a culminating complimentary lunch, allowing clue gurus to swap code-cracking glory or give into the scavenger-hunting high by hiding teammates’ food.

About Great Greenville Race

In 2010, former WASV host Sabrina Baxter launched the Great Greenville Race, a recurring scavenger hunt event that combines physical and mental exercise and gives participants a deeper glimpse into the landscape of downtown Greenville. Preregistered teams make their way through town, simultaneously cracking codes and solving puzzles. While some participants move as quickly as possible, others take their time, sometimes even taking a break to enjoy food and drinks at local restaurants. In addition to bragging rights, winners get prizes and gift bags, often from participating business in the downtown Greenville area.
