Triangle Rock Club challenges belayed brains with 10 Eldorado climbing walls featuring more than 100 climbing routes, plus a 3,000-square-foot bouldering area. The fully heated and air-conditioned facility ensures that climbers don’t get chilly at high altitudes, while TruBlue Auto Belays make for smooth returns to sea level. The Introduction to Climbing course prepares a maximum of 12 inexperienced or practicing climbers with the basic safety skills to pass the belay course, with a 6-to-1 student-to-staff ratio allowing for focused attention. Along the way, students pick up top-rope skills, learn the proper use of a harness and tie-in with a figure-eight climbing knot, and study the current American Mountain Guide Association belay techniques, all with the end goal of being able to use the top-roping areas or retrieve a motorcycle out of a tree.
After the course, Groupon holders have full access to the climbing walls, boulders, cross-training fitness area, and fortune-telling pet rocks for two weeks. Introduction to Climbing classes are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., as well as Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon.
