Rolling vineyards. Covered bridges. Shady hemlocks. The setting of Hemlock Springs Golf Course might be picturesque, but that doesn't mean it's like a walk in the park. Designed by Ben Zink, the 6,812-yard, Par 72 course is filled with a variety of challenging shots. Just look at the eighth hole, a.k.a. "Master of Deception." From the tee, the narrow fairway pits players against trees on left and a small creek on the right. Then there's the green: narrow, deep, uphill, and undulating, it makes a three-putt a strong possibility. All in all, the holes should test the skills of skilled golfers while still inviting novices to keep up. If nothing else, there's the idyllic landscape to make it an afternoon well spent.
