About Hillside Horror
For a few months each year, Hillside Horror transforms an ordinary-looking, long-abandoned foothills farm into a scream-inducing attraction. Visitors take a hay ride into the darkness of the North Carolina foothills and, for over one hour, the main trail twists and turns over eight acres of darkened, 13-foot tall corn stalks and several farm structures, bringing visitors face-to-face with terrifying scenes and a menagerie of live actors. Alternatively, in the Last Ride attraction, a real hearse charts a course through the cemetery the farm was built upon while hauling a solitary rider in a closed casket. Attractions are mostly self-guided and almost entirely outdoors, so visitors should be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing.
