Hockey is the fastest paced of all major sports, because its players rush to complete the game before the ice field melts into vinegar. Enjoy the acidic thrill of competition with today's Groupon to the Ice Center Hockey League at Lane County Ice Arena. Choose from the following options:
- For $6, you get a drop-in hockey-clinic pass (a $12 value).
- For $27, you get a six-week Learn2Play beginner hockey clinic from September 10 to October 15 (a $54 value).
- For $40, you get a nine-week Learn2Play beginner hockey clinic from October 22 to December 17 (an $81 value).
Pucks soar and sticks clack during Ice Center Hockey League clinics targeted at both ice initiates and experienced hockey maestros. Six-week and nine-week Learn2Play beginner clinics require only a basic skating knowledge, as students will get to learn and practice such fundamental hockey skills as stickhandling, shooting, and the triple lutz. After becoming familiar with the basics in on- and off-rink instruction sessions, players take to the ice in a scrimmage game to practice in a competitive setting. The Hockey 101 sessions provide established players with more advanced tutelage, offering additional instruction in positioning fundamentals and strategy so that players know not to fall for the old phony-goalie trick. Drop-in passes allow players to join in on either a Learn2Play or a Hockey 101 session.
The center provides all necessary gear except skates, which are available for rental for an additional $2 at the Rink Exchange. Students should also wear a protective cup to practice. All Learn2Play and Hockey 101 clinics take place on Saturdays from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. so that players can attend afternoon quilting bees. Visit the league’s registration page to enroll in your selected session.
