What You'll Get
Michelangelo famously claimed that the human form of a sculpture resided in the stone itself, and that the artist’s task was merely to free it using totally tubular nunchaku moves. With today's Groupon, free the finely sculpted form lurking just beneath your skin. For $30, you get a two-month membership at Ladies Fitness & Wellness, located in North Raleigh, a $90 value. Committed to providing women with a comfortable place to work out, the sweat studio offers plenty of group exercise classes, cardiovascular equipment, and nutritional information.
Ladies Fitness & Wellness hosts more than 100 classes each month in a variety of fitness disciplines. Classes take place anytime from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (with a more limited schedule Friday–Sunday) and include everything from kettlebells for full-body strength training to butt & gut, a workshop devoted to the abs and glutes. The gym's girls-only exclusivity and wide-ranging acceptance of all shapes and sizes encourage even wallflowers to experiment with their exercise routines. Mix it up with stretching sessions such as yoga and intense cardio romps (Zumba, spinning). View a complete list of courses and descriptions here. Highly motivated pulse raisers can check out LFW's cardiovascular equipment before or after classes to squeeze in a bonus solo sweat session. There is also a massage therapist on site for an extra fee.
Centered on the specific needs of women, the gym staffs a knowledgeable and friendly team of fitness experts. As with bathrooms and professional rugby teams, restricting access of the opposite sex allows patrons to focus on the task at hand. Avoid awkward uninvited instruction from muscleheads, show-off body builders, or runs interrupted with pick-up lines from '90s children's cartoons. Ladies Fitness & Wellness, located at the corner of Falls of Neuse Road and Strickland Road, is open Monday through Thursday from 5:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
