The instructors at Mary Lorraine's Dance Center educate bodies in expressiveness by providing dance instruction in disciplines including ballet, tap, hip-hop, pom, musical theater jazz, and more. Kids as young as three can begin developing rhythm and movement skills during Preschool Dance sessions, and students can plié and pirouette through multiple levels of Ballet or Ballet/Tap classes. All ballet sessions consist of practicing barre techniques and executing center floor work to help tiptoers master such essential skills as twirling down a spiral-staircase handrail. The center also teaches the ancient art of self defense and kicking down trees during tae kwon do classes helmed by instructor Paula Millerd.
Dance-center founder Mary Lorraine studied in Chicago with the elite Hubbard Street Dance company and has participated in more than 85 musical-theater productions throughout the Midwest over the course of a career that has spanned more than three decades. A professional choreographer, dancer, and actress, Ms. Lorraine is certified by the Royal Academy of Dance and Dance Educators of America.
Mary Lorraine's Dance Center
Across three studios equipped with wooden dance-floors, Mary Lorraine's Dance Center's experienced instructors teach children and adults the intricate steps of a variety of dance styles. Classes include ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop, and the center also offers pom, stretch, and strengthen. And to accommodate both recreational and competitive students, the center offers two levels of courses: those that emphasize a fun environment and encourage dance-related knock knock jokes and those that are intensive and focus on career training and competitive elements.
