What You'll Get
You're probably thinking, "That sounds great, but I've never bought a car or a computer without first reading the Wikipedia definitions for car and computer—I'm not about to buy a Groupon either without a briefing." Well neither would we, and since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of Atlanta: restaurants, spas, sporting events, theater, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power"!
If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (20 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll get a printable gift certificate in your inbox the next morning that you can use whenever you want (well, at least until the deal expires—today's expires on December 26, 2009). If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
It's nice to wake up to something new every day. Some people get their daily fix from desk calendars with a cute puppy and a funny caption every morning. Groupon is like a desk calendar, except the puppy is an unbeatable discount and the funny caption is a profound reflection on the flowers and needles growing from life's cactus. We selflessly share our deep insights, hoping that you will join our mob of consumers, thus strengthening our collective buying power and commanding even better deals.
With today's Groupon, $15 gets you $35 worth of fresh soup, sandwiches, or entrees at MetroFresh, located at 931 Monroe Dr. in the Midtown Promenade. Buy a few Groupons and start eating healthy, tasty food with your entire family.
MetroFresh is a nutritious, fresh cafe with a menu that changes daily. Its blog highlights new options with amusing commentary on why each entree was selected. There's always a fresh variety of soup, sandwiches, salads, and other interesting entrees; recent items included a curried egg-salad sandwich and shrimp-and-white-cheddar mac and cheese.
The cafe is a great place to dine, but the prices are also carry-out affordable (sandwiches for $5 or $6). With fresh ingredients in everything, MetroFresh is the kind of place where a big meal fills you up and makes you feel healthier.
MetroFresh is owned and operated by retired actor Mitchell Anderson. Of the many TV and film roles played by Anderson, he may be best known as Doogie's colleague in Doogie Howser, M.D. Who would have guessed that it would be Anderson, not Neil Patrick Harris, who would become the real prodigy—not of medicine, but of deliciousness?
Yelpers—a good number who say they go at least once a week—give MetroFresh four stars. Here's what they say:
- "I love love love their soups and their mayo-less versions of tuna and chicken salad. They have a good balance of healthy and "normal" choices, so your boyfriend won't compain [sic] when you want to meet him here for lunch. Unless he sucks. " – Lindsay E.
- "I subscribe to their daily emails, and it's fun to read over their always-changing menu. I'm a health nut and have always wanted to try prepared salads at restaurants, but most places usually offer only heavy mayonnaise-based chicken and tuna salads. Metro Fresh is one of the only places I've had trouble picking just two of their options!" – Erin D.
- "So good!!! I've been here multiple times because the food is fresh, quick, healthy and delicious." – Marie P.
