8-week Introduction to Historical Fencing for two
Learn to swordfight in our Intro to Historical Fencing (also known as HEMA). In this course you will learn the basics of fencing with the Medieval two-handed longsword, renaissance rapier and dagger, sword and buckler, smallsword, saber, and more! The class focuses on developing the essential footwork, technique, and tactics, needed to become a historical fencer. Fencing is a fun and exciting sport, a great workout, and we welcome all skill levels and athletic abilities.
No prior experience needed! Participants must be at least 15 years of age, and any student 17 or under must have parent's or legal guardian's permission. Price Includes equipment rental of the swords used in class - fencing mask separate. Space is limited!
What you'll need to join: Due to COVID protocols, participants must show proof of vaccination, wear a face mask and provide their own fencing mask in order to participate. Fencers may purchase on their own or provide their own fencing mask, or they may be purchased through the club at a discounted rate

The Metropolitan Historical Fencing Academy (MFHA) is a Historical Fencing (also known as HEMA) School located in Lorton, Virginia, run by nationally and internationally known coaches with more than 20 years of experience. MHFA offers classes in a number of fencing traditions and weapons such as Sword and Buckler, Longsword, Rapier, Saber, Smallsword, and more! With an environment that aims to foster a safe, supportive, inclusive, and accessible space.
