Originally dubbed “Bloodsplosion,” fencing was born when sword-strapped Greek guards, bored of playing “Never Have I Ever” and “Six Degrees of Hesiod,” began passing time with their neglected weapons. Enjoy a safer, strategically evolved version of the mind and body-strengthening sport with today’s Groupon to Ocean State Fencing in Lincoln. Regardless of your previous fencing experience, Ocean State’s experienced coaches will guide you through six skill level-appropriate one-hour sessions, bolstering dormant arm muscles and the Keanu-shaped lobe that governs Matrix-like projectile dodges. Check the schedule to plan your first foray into swashbuckling exercise.
Ocean State Fencing Club
Throughout history, it was swordplay that was the true universal language. Working to expose budding swashbucklers to a long history steeped in tradition, the duo of coaches at Ocean State Fencing Club bring their unique experiences to their eager students. Owner Mikhail Kolker’s competitions throughout the former USSR, and coach Sergey Kolker’s national medalist status give them all an expert edge and perspective. Pupils aged 8 to adult can expect to obtain the quickness of a cat while participating in low-impact drills that prepare them for competition or intense Renaissance Fair auditions.
