What You'll Get
Gathering objects of beauty in a single place makes art easier for the public to access and antique furniture easier for thieves to hypnotically behold before their previous owners come back to claim them. Benefit from a high art-to-walls ratio with today's Groupon: for $29, you get a general membership at Phoenix Art Museum (a $75 value), located on the corner of Central Avenue and McDowell Road. Membership covers a household of two adults and their children or grandchildren 17 and younger. See the website for a full list of membership benefits.
With more than 200,000 square feet of exhibits, Phoenix Art Museum hosts art-centric special events, lectures, and workshops amidst its eclectic collection of more than 18,000 masterworks of modern and contemporary art and more. Pieces from icons including Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Frida Kahlo highlight the museum's vast collections, which boast works from around the world. Ambitious exhibitions keep regulars engaged with fresh and revealing displays, including the current Inspired Vision, which includes an effort to identify dozens of nameless subjects of the renowned portrait photographer Sonya Noskowiak. The upcoming Fashion Independent lets mannequins sashay around in more than 60 full ensembles from the wardrobe of designer darling Ann Bonfoey Taylor.
Culture cravers can fix on an impressive slate of events and activities, from films and concerts to the enlightening lectures that often complement current exhibits. Demonstrations and workshops explain aesthetic fundamentals such as how blue and red make purple and purple and purple make mega-beige. Those who join the fold also enjoy invites to members-only events, from exhibition previews to curator-led museum tours to panel discussions, including a Mother's Day event with free massages and children's activities.
On PhxArtKids Days, tyke-friendly programs connect kids with their artistic sides to help them create snazzy projects. Teens can pry themselves from the repeated viewings of Harry Potter and the Perilous C-SPAN Interview to participate in adolescent-aimed under 21 events such as Make an Impression, which introduces young minds to gorgeous Japanese woodblock prints before giving them the tools to create their own.

About Phoenix Art Museum
Today, Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe, and Frida Kahlo all live in the same building thanks to the Phoenix Art Museum, which houses an eclectic collection of works from across the world. Exhibitions stretch across 200,000 square feet and the museum's core collection holds more than 17,000 works of American, Asian, European, Latin American, and Western American art from classics to moderns. Beyond paintings, a walk through the exhibitions reveals modern sculptures, photography, and thousands of garments from Europe and America. And unlike the expressions in Gilbert Stuart's portrait of George Washington, the face of the museum is always changing.
More than 400 exhibitions have rotated in and out of the museum since it opened nearly 60 years ago. Phoenix Art Museum also hosts regular events, including lectures, film screenings, and educational workshops.
