At Richardson’s Corn Maze & Farm Market, families lose themselves in five different mazes, get to know animals, and stock up on locally produced edibles. Stalks reach towards the sky as adventurers wind through six kilometres of cleared pathway, interrogating ears of corn until they pop and reveal the correct route through the seven-acre corn maze. Fledgling farmers can attempt to manoeuvre a jammed tractor that can only turn left while their siblings twist and turn through rope, tile, and straw-bale mazes. A corn box lets kids get to know individual kernels, lassos come to rest around the necks of toy horses, and farm visitors pet goats and calves. Finally, families pile into wagons for a horse-drawn wagon ride (Saturday and Sunday afternoons only) before exiting to grab hold of mini pumpkins, draw back arms, and launch their orange ammo across skies towards targets and stampeding gourds.
After memorizing all maze routes, groups can enter the heritage barn to peruse antiques and educational displays. Although not included in today’s Groupon, visitors can stock up on local products such as apples and made-from-scratch jams at the farm market, or pick out pumpkins from the patch to carve or replace old bowling balls.
