Early man's attempts at flying included sewing feathers onto his arms and scaling mountain peaks in order to cling to the underbellies of passing comets. Learn to fly the new-fashioned way with today's deal: for $89, you get a Learn to Fly introductory flight package (a $180 value) from Santa Cruz Flying Club at the Watsonville Airport. You must be less than 250 pounds and at least 14 years old to use this Groupon.
Santa Cruz Flying Club provides hands-on flight instruction and training classes to aspiring pilots of all experience levels. Sky-captains-in-training can build a firm foundation of in-flight instruction and ground training with the SCFC Learn to Fly Package. The introductory flight package begins with a group ground school class, where students will be given the chance to ask questions and schedule their first flight lesson. Following a 60-minute instructional session, an FAA-certified flight instructor will guide students through 30-minutes of in-flight training. At the end of the flying lesson students will get a chance to talk with instructors about what their goals are, and what future flying lessons involve regarding time and expense. The package also gets you four free months of club membership, 30-minutes of flight simulator time, an intro to flight DVD, and a pilot's log book. If a member progresses through training to receive a Student Pilot Certificate and solo flight without an instructor, the student will be granted access to the club office and aircraft 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as well as a lending library of aviation books, videos, magazines, and charts.
