Ski Chantecler- Laurentians, Quebec
Located in the heart of the Laurentian Mountains—one of the oldest ranges in the world—the Chantecler North hillside on La Crête mountain has come a long way since opening to the public in 1970. Thanks to Ski Chantecler resort, the mountain's original handful of trails and double lifts have given way to 17 trails of varying difficulty and a modern four-seater chairlift. Skiers and snowboarders of all levels can hit the slopes, which are kept wintry thanks to an updated snowmaking system. You can brush up on the fundamentals in a beginner-friendly school, or, if you're more advanced, go skiing at night on one of the lit trails during the weekends.
There's more to Ski Chantecler than its wide array of outdoor recreation, though. About five minutes from the mountain, the Hotel Le Chantecler offers a cozy and tranquil place to warm your bones after a day on the slopes. The massive lodge welcomes guests with a crackling fireplace, a gourmet restaurant with postcard-worthy views of Lake Rond, and an onsite spa.
Winter isn't the only season the resort shines—the scenic property features plenty to do all year round. There are hiking and horseback-riding trails in the surrounding Laurentian forest, tennis courts, and a golf course that looks like it was plucked right out of a landscape painting.
