What You'll Get
Thomas Edison declared that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration, a fact he discovered while inventing the volcano. Work up a healthy sweat with today's Groupon: for $99, you get an intro to boxing package from Striking Beauties at their locations on Angell Street or in North Attleboro (a $240 value).
Striking Beauties pushes, crunches, and pummels women of all ages and backgrounds into stronger, firmer bodies and rock-solid self-confidence with time-tested boxing training. The jabbing journey begins with a private lesson from one of the gym's trainers, who determines each woman's skill level and imparts the boxing basics necessary to start classes. Instructors include the program's executive director, Jaime Clampitt, a four-time World Champion boxer with 17 years of training experience beneath her oversized, solid-mithril belt. The one-month unlimited-class pass unlocks a bevy of butt-kicking workouts, including the Traditional Boxing Workout, a high-energy circuit of jumping rope, shadowboxing, punching bags, pad work with a trainer, and a round of intense tickling. Friday Night Under the Lights deconstructs the traditional workout routine, putting boxers through an ever-changing gauntlet of dragging tires, carrying buckets, or swinging sledgehammers outside, rain or shine. The real thrill of the training process happens in the ring during the sparring class, where students at the same skill level fight for two-minute rounds under the professional left eye of a certified USA Boxing coach.
Striking Beauties is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, not unlike a gas-station mini mart stocked with cold, hard fists. The package includes gloves, wraps, and a T-shirt, ensuring fledgling femme fatales are properly attired for their training. Every burgeoning boxer must go through one-on-one instruction before attending open classes. Call ahead to schedule a private lesson.
- With pink walls, hangers bearing baby doll T-shirts, pink boxing gloves and a children's play area, it's pretty clear that Striking Beauties at 18 Church St. is not a stereotypical boxing gym. – Amy DeMelia, Sun Chronicle, North Attleboro location
- Striking Beauties may sound like College Hill's newest salon, but in fact it is nothing like a day at the spa. This all-female boxing gym — which opened at 189 Angell St. at the end of October — offers classes in boxing and yoga to women of all ages and experience levels. – Anna Lillkung, Brown Daily Herald, Angell Street location

About Striking Beauties- North Attleboro
When conjuring up the image of a serious boxer, it's natural for most people to picture a brawny man who is dripping with sweat, missing his teeth, and wearing a prosthetic bee stinger. Striking Beauties' founder, Dena Paolino—pretty, petite, and powerful female boxer—wanted to change that. Knowing that many females felt out of place in the male-dominated sport, Dena spearheaded her all-female boxing gym in 2009 to introduce fellow women to the exhilarating and physically demanding sport of boxing in a uninhibited, comfortable environment.
At the 24-hour studio, electric-pink walls beam down on cardio equipment, free weights, and punching bags. Here, Dena and her staff of professional boxers lead the studio's signature boxing workouts. In each session, coaches lead energetic rounds of intense exercises and boxing movements designed to tone muscles, strengthen cores, and slim physiques, as well as boost self-confidence and determination. The staff also strives to build a sense of community amongst members, cultivating a space where women can encourage each other and network.
