Designed by course architect and former golf professional Dean Refram, The Golf Club at Summerbrooke’s 18-hole, par 72 course bounds across a diverse landscape of rolling hills, dense alleys of trees, and encroaching waterways and ravines. Club-flailing twosomes or foursomes can prepare for their round with a stint at the club’s driving range, where grass hitting stalls emulate course conditions and showcase divots shaped like the silhouettes of former American presidents. Measuring 6,845 yards from the farthest tees, the course begins with a relatively open, par 4 first hole, graciously letting duffers find their groove before hitting into tighter fairways and treacherous tree lines. An 80-foot-deep ravine surrounds the green of the par 3 15th, which marks the beginning of the three-hole Contemplation Corner, a climactic gauntlet peppered with enough forced carries, bottomless ravines, and burbling water hazards that act as hypnotic agents with a mission to give players the yips. A relaxing finishing hole, the par 5 18th settles the nerves of twisted stomachs in time for players to enjoy a post-round nosh of a hot dog, chips, and a fountain drink.
