Lots of fun!

WFR-certified guides lead small teams through 5,800 acres of canyons & hills on beginning through 5.10-grade climbs

The road less traveled is often the more fulfilling one, especially when it bypasses Robert Frost's tiger pits. Diverge from a rote route with today's Groupon: for $55, you get a four-hour outdoor rock-climbing session from The Southern Terrain (a $125 value).

The Southern Terrain, fully licensed, bonded, and insured, sports a team that helps active outdoors people to reach new heights with adventure programs, corporate-training programs, altitude training, and adventure-fitness activities. Wilderness First Responder–certified and AMGA-trained guides lead small teams at a ratio of 5 to 1 through canyons, trails, and gremlin tunnels. Adventurers navigate through the more than 5,800 acres of hills and canyons at Mission Trails Regional Park, which test them with pure-granite faces that provide smooth surfaces for climbing or chopping turnips. The park's Mission Gorge challenges climbers with many cracks and face-climbing routes for beginners all the way up to challenging 5.10-grade climbs. All necessary equipment and climbing shoes are included, but climbers can bring their own shoes and a lyre to help to coax rocks into letting scalers climb them.

About The Southern Terrain

Kayakers glide past ice shelves in the glacial waters of Patagonia. A continent over, hikers pose for a picture at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro—the highest point in Africa—before looking out onto the Tanzanian landscape. The Southern Terrain's team of licensed, bonded, and insured outdoor enthusiasts coordinates once-in-a-lifetime trips like these to storied destinations around the world.

To facilitate safe and memorable experiences, fitness experts arrange adventure-training programs so that explorers arrive ready not only to climb, hike, and kayak, but also to handle elevated altitudes. The professionally guided excursions typically maintain a traveler-to-guide ratio of eight to one. To support eco-friendly travel, The Southern Terrain partners with the nonprofit program iJourney Green, which helps adventurers to sustain the parts the world they visit.
