What You'll Get
Lacrosse-trained adolescents understand the delicate interplay between ball and stick and prove adept at hand-axing apples in midair and catching cannonballs in butterfly nets. Keep a kid's skills keen with today's Groupon: for $225, you get a day-camper admission to a four-day boys' lacrosse-skills camp from True Lacrosse at Butler University from Monday, June 27 to Thursday, June 30 (a $450 value). Full equipment is not provided with today's deal, but summer-camp rental packages are available.
True Lacrosse's elite coaching staff of pro and NCAA stars tutor stick handlers from grades 3–12 in their quest to hone abilities and earn college scholarships. Fledgling flingers check in at 9 a.m. each day, learning to coerce the ball into the goal in its native language (Dutch) while developing individual skills and position-specific know-how. Participating in group stretching and basic passing, catching, and cradling work will help stick wielders to get warmed up before they split off to learn skills such as facing off, scooping up ground balls, and cranking shots. The camp's competitive drills lets players square off with pride and six months of BLT sandwiches on the line in a series of head-to-head technique-refining exercises. After three skill-buttressing sessions, campers check out at 8:30 p.m. each day or stay overnight for an additional fee.
In addition to acquiring a formidable split dodge or stick check, campers enjoy nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and dinners every day, and come home at the end toting True Lacrosse T-shirts, jerseys, and Brine lanyards. A range of raffles and prizes teaches fledgling athletes to hunger for victory and photo sessions with the camp's on-staff pros hones each camper's discrete bunny-ear-giving skills.
