Kayak Rentals: Sun and Salt Adventures has single and tandem kayak rentals. Our XL tandems can even fit a small child as a third passenger. Rentals come with comfy seat, paddles and life jackets.

Clear Bottom Kayak Rentals: There is no better way to experience the ocean and see all that the ocean has to offer. Beautiful coral, playful reef fish, and sea turtles are plentiful in the waters around Oahu. Lanikai will have the most calm water and abundant sea life. A clear bottom kayak is for intermediate kayakers.

SUP Rentals: Our SUP rentals include a range of light, easy-to-use boards for beginners. We also have inflatable SUP boards, which makes it far easier to transport the boards to and from the beach!

The waters of Kailua and Lanikai offer the best variety of SUP and kayak conditions, suitable for all experience levels. The Kailua canal offers over a mile of calm water lined by houses and trees that host a variety of bird species and fish. Traveling to the mouth of the canal you will find Kailua Beach, where you’ll launch to visit Popoia Island, commonly called Flat Island – you’ll know why when you see it.

This is a short paddle in relatively shallow water. Landing in a small cove on the island allows a chance to take a break and walk around exploring this seabird sanctuary. Next, paddle over to Lanikai where you’ll enjoy clear turquoise, water, protected from the ocean waves by the reef a ½ mile offshore. This area provides outstanding views of the coral reef, tropical fish, and our most famous resident the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle.

For the experienced stand-up paddler or kayaker, you can paddle out to the Mokulua or Twin Islands (the Mokes) for even more adventure! Take our snorkeling gear with you and you can enjoy this area from above AND below the surface!

SUP rentals and kayak rentals can also be taken to Kaneohe Bay, Chinamans Hat, Sandbar, and anywhere else on Oahu that you would like to explore. It’s pretty tough to find a spot that isn’t breathtakingly beautiful.

The beach is a short mile drive from our store, and you’ll be able to park very close to the water, so we provide free foam pads and straps so you can drive your SUP or kayak to Kailua Beach or Lanikai Beach. If you’re staying in a residence, we can deliver your rentals free of charge for multi-day rentals
