Today's Groupon hooks you up with three days of unlimited bouldering with all the requisite gear at Vertical Ventures, Florida's first indoor climbing gym. Hop, leap, and shuffle across Vertical Ventures' freestanding boulder that ranges in difficulty from "skipping stone" to "rock and a hard place." The gym features more than 6,000 square feet of climbing space.
Bouldering is climbing on short, low routes called “problems” without the use of the rope that is typical of other styles. Safety measures typically consist of a cushioned pad on the floor below the route and a spotter, a person who watches from below and directs the climber away from tricky areas through telekinesis, or more commonly, encouragement. Bouldering is a way to build muscles and calluses without getting too high off the ground, all while making you feel like a real-life video game character.
This deal gives you unlimited boulder-climbing access for three days, along with any gear you might need. Bouldering at Vertical Ventures is a great way for someone to get started, or is a perfect after-work and climb-during-inclement-weather alternative for experienced climbers who want continuous practice in the off-season, between manned explorations of Mars. You don't have to complete any formal training to go bouldering at Vertical Ventures, but the friendly staff is happy to give you some basic instruction and show you around the gym before you climb.
You can spread your three days over the months before the expiration date, but you can't share them with friends; they have to have their own Groupon. So buy a few Groupons and learn how to scramble over rocks with people you trust. Buy three and learn to scramble over rocks with people you're highly suspicious of and friends you trust watching them.
Note: Climbers under age 18 must have parental consent.

In addition to having about a zillion awesome videos online, the bouldering community has sought out a number of celebrity spokespeople to endorse the emerging sport. In fact, the following celebrities offered these sentiments unsolicited, so pure was their love of bouldering. Check them out!
- As a three-time presidential candidate for the Federalist Party, I can tell you nothing takes the edge off twice losing to that brainiac Thomas Jefferson like scuttling up a sizeable chunk of white granite. I found it kept my regiment in excellent shape when our mettle was tested at the Battle of Brandywine. – Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, Early American Statesman
- I climb more for work than recreation, but it’d be nice to be able to cling to the surface of something without some animal-themed mad scientist braining me with an Adamantium wrecking bar. – Spider-Man, Menace
- Please stop calling me Carl, my name is Reginald, Reginald VelJohnson. Carl Winslow on Family Matters is just one of many characters I’ve played over the years. A lot of people know me as Sergeant Al Powell in Die Hard. Have you seen Die Hard? You’ve only seen the new one? Well that’s just perfect. – Carl Winslow, Treasured Character Actor
