Prior to Covid, my wife and I loved to take friends on horse and carriage rides with the 76 Carriage Company. Since then, however, the horses have been retired and the carriages have been replaced by electric cars.
This year, we and a friend decided to give the cars a try, and we were glad we did! We were impressed at the start because our "wrangler", Kim, was dressed in her former horse-and-carriage livery. After a brief discussion of our former tour experiences with 76 Carriage, she indulged us by taking us through historic neighborhoods we had not visited before, as well as showing us how the more popular attractions were being "fixed up" for the 250th birthday celebrations.
All in all, we found her knowledge, enthusiasm, and friendliness to be unsurpassed as a tour guide, even though her beloved horses were no longer part of the experience.
The tour we booked was actually 90 minutes, but Tripadvisor only had a box for 60 minutes. 76 Carriage Company provides open sided cars in warm weather, and closed sided ones in winter.
Definitely worth it!

I cannot imagine booking at another Wyndham hotel. We had been on a six-week road trip, which we enjoyed. Most of the hotels we booked during our journey were satisfactory until we reached Philadelphia. First, the photographs in the hotel’s advertisement were misleading, and while I understand you want to promote an image that attracts customers, the opposite happens when guests arrive and are disappointed. The forecourt was dirty, littered with cigarette butts and trash; loud rap music was playing — not a good start.
During check-in, the receptionist was disrespectful and completely disinterested. He handed over the key and told us to park wherever we could find a spot (and that’s another story). When I went to the room, I was disgusted. First, it was not the room I had booked. It was too small, cramped, and not very clean. I went back to reception and told him the initial room was unacceptable, and he handed me the keys to another room. I checked the new room, which was the size I had previously booked. However, the room wasn’t clean, and there were no towels. The bed linen looked quite dirty. But because we would have been charged if we moved to another hotel, we decided to stay at Wyndham for three nights; the location was perfect for our plans during the visit to the city.
During our stay, we noticed that the furniture tops were dusty, and underneath the microwave hadn’t been cleaned since Moby Dick was a sardine. We usually avoid having cleaning staff in during our stay, as I had previously suffered a bad case of COVID, and we try to limit our exposure to potentially infected people. Throughout our stay, even though we had a “do not disturb” sign on our door, the cleaning staff in the hallway played loud “rap” outside our door. This was not only unprofessional, but it was also disrespectful and low-class. We understand that staff need to do their jobs, but that can be done without drawing attention to themselves. I don’t understand how any credible supervisor could let this go on for more than two minutes.
The staff overall seemed friendly, but they were unprofessional. The restaurant and bar area were very disappointing. We followed the 'Please wait to be seated' sign and waited for twenty minutes until the bartender finally looked away from watching televised sports long enough to shout to us to find our own seats. The menu at the restaurant was limited. The waiter was dressed casually, with an open collar and rolled-up sleeves, as if he were on the street. He also showed a complete lack of professionalism when taking and delivering our order.
The car park was a disaster. Two parking floors are out of operation, most other spaces on the lower floors are reserved for television personalities, and that left a “first-come, first-served” contest for a parking space. But of course, one had to take a ticket and enter the garage before learning there were no available parking spaces. This wasn’t an insurmountable problem, but just one more thing added to an already disastrous experience. I would have attempted to plan for parking nearby were I the manager – but then, I think caring for guests is essential, a value not shared by Wyndham Hotels.
We understand that providing reasonable accommodations to the public is a challenging task, but in most places, hotel staff try even if they fail. This hotel, in our view, was a prime example of what not to do in the hotel industry. It was apparent to us that the supervisory staff, from the manager on down, paid very little attention to detail. It was as if the attitude of “good enough” was present throughout the entire hotel. When we pay good money for accommodations, we expect to be treated accordingly. However, what we experienced at Wyndham Philadelphia was a hotel staffed by people who are untrained, unsupervised, and have no desire to excel.
If our Armed Forces reflected Wyndham Hotel values, Americans would be speaking a different language today.

Mike was our driver and he was extremely knowledgeable and informative. There was so much information packed into our tour that it's hard to remember it all.
Thank you for all your assistance to make a memorable experience for us.

I loved this car, perfect for getting in and out, dodging traffic, etc
Our tour guide was so knowledgeable, but I felt like it was TOO MUCH info
I wanted to sit back, chill, and get bullet point info about the area, we instead got an encyclopedia dump. However, I did learn alot, and she was super nice, so I do recommend this tour
