It was an amazing time with Chris. He was our guide, very knowledgeable about the area and took us to some beautiful places. Definitely going to do this again if I’m gonna be in the area really cool experience.

This is a wonderful alternative to an airboat ride … quiet, peaceful and surreal. It is a leisurely paddle experience with a naturalist guide who throughout the tour will be interpreting and explaining what you are seeing. It is a great learning experience in a very unique part of the Everglades. The Everglades is a vast and varied ecosystem containing the largest mangrove forest in North America. Throughout the forest are brackish "lakes" whose waters are a mix of "sweet" fresh water and salt water. They are refuges and nursery grounds for alligators, herons, egrets, stilts, ducks, wood storks, spoonbills,  otters, orchids and bromeliads and a gamut of fishes. Interconnecting these lakes are narrow, flowing tidal creeks. The mangrove forest grows to the very edge and over the tops of these creeks forming a canopy or a tunnel. The dense canopy regulates moisture and humidity allowing  to thrive. Note: June through October, we suggest the morning experiences due to the weather.

We had an absolutely great canoe tour of the Everglades! Our guide Guy was just fantastic. He took an incredible amount of time to respond to our questions and wishes, and responded fully to our pace. As a result, we were able to enjoy the unique nature in peace and quiet and got exciting insights into the animal and plant world. The tour was perfectly organized, very relaxed and at the same time full of exciting discoveries. We felt completely comfortable and had an unforgettable time – highly recommended!

If you want to know what the Everglades are like, you must take this excursion! Our location was in the Big Cypress Preserve. The 2 of us had never kayaked before. The leader, Chris Thorn, was terrific and showed us what we needed to do, coached as necessary. He really knew the area, pointed out animals and plants we might have missed. Chris was an outstanding excursion leader and was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this excursion!!
