We had a brilliant time on this trip which felt like a private tour as it was just the two of us booked. Ali, our tour guide is a wealth of information and very passionate about conservation. She really made our day very special from her laid back style, nothing was rushed. Kayaking in the swamps was relaxed and surroundings were stunning. Lunch overlooking the lake was excellent. Ali picked a perfect spot. Highly recommend Whitney plantation - very sobering and informative. We were very fortunate to visit this time of year as no crowds of tourist so it felt very personal I’d highly recommend this combo and thank Ali for sharing her knowledge and making this experience very special

Points of Interest

Stop At: The Manchac Swamp BridgePonchatoula, LA 70454Explore the Manchac Swamp, the second biggest cypress swamp in North America in tandem or single sit-on-top kayaks (think stable and easy). As you adventure through the Spanish moss laden cypress swamp, a knowledgeable guide will share stories and give an overview of the benefits and trials the swamp is currently facing. We do NOT feed the wildlife and the animals; alligators, turtles, birds are non threatening. Duration: 2 hoursStop At: B&C Seafood Riverside & Cajun Restaurant2155 Louisiana 18, Vacherie, LA 70090After our kayak tour, we head to B & C Seafood where we stop for an opportunity to experience some Cajun food. (You have the option to purchase food.) Step out of your comfort zone and try some fried alligator, gulf oysters, crawfish, soft shell crab, frog legs or keep it simple and get the smoked rabbit gumbo. If you don't want to push your palate, then I suggest the red beans and rice. A southern staple! After a fun lunch, we venture off to the Whitney Plantation.Duration: 1 hourStop At: Whitney Plantation5099 Louisiana Highway 18, Wallace, LouisianaThe Whitney Plantation offers you an opportunity to experience the story of plantation life in Louisiana from the perspective of those enslaved. It does a good job of not glorifying the ownership. The 45 min drive home gives you a quick chance to nap prior to hitting the town.Duration: 2 hours

What a delightful trip. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. She tailored our trip to our interests and pointed out lots of wildlife (especially birds) and how the ecosystem works.

The swamp tour was fantastic. Our guide, Stephanie, was a wealth of knowledge and made the whole day relaxed, fun and still informative. The self-paced plantation tour was also really well put together with lots of spots to stop and sit in the shade while you listen.
