Muddy trail is very slippery, so use the walking poles if they offer! Our guide was very informative and I left feeling my knowledge of Hawaii ( botany, geology, and history) had been greatly enhanced. Beautiful views and it felt good to be active on our last day. Well worth it and would definitely do again.
Pro tip; go early in the day to avoid the crowds.

We went for the early morning tour (7 am) and it was perfect, not crowded at all but on the way back the were lots of groups heading there. The 2 mile kayaking and 1 mile hike each way was easy to do, a bit slippery and muddy in some spots so the stick our guide gave us was much appreciated.

We were a family of eight and the logistics were great from the shuttle ride to the kayaks in the water to the hiking point. Once we were on the hike the guide did not wait for the slower folks and certain points of the hike were missed. We also could not hear the guide talk. It would have been nice to have a guide in the front and a guide in the back to help with the slower folks

Just a great well rounded excursion. This is definitely a more active outing . To me -the hike was more challenging than the kayaking . The guides were great !
