I’ll start with the only negative experience.. we were on ATV’s instead of sleds. That’s only because it’s so early in the year and they don’t have enough snow for the sleds, which isn’t their fault at all! Now, on to all of the AMAZING parts. First, the staff and Owners were incredibly welcoming, and their facility is beautifully maintained! We had our own costs, boots, etc., but decided to let them outfit us with everything. BEST DECISION WE MADE. You MUST wear their boots. Sure, they aren’t the prettiest things, but your feet will thank you! My feet are always cold, and for once, they were warm! The bibs and coat were incredibly warm as well. Seriously, I can’t stress this enough, let them dress you! Our musher was Emily, and she was wonderful! Her love of her dogs is so evident, and she was very easy to talk to during our ride. She was very informative of all things mushing! Overall, we had a wonderful time! We would definitely go again!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Rod’s. We didn’t have transportation and there wasn’t a scheduled pickup available at the time we needed, but Rod arranged it. Their driver, Christian picked us up on time from our hotel in Fairbanks in a nice new van. Her was very polite and fun to talk with on the way up and back. I was really impressed with how clean and nice the facility was. When we arrived, the ladies at the front checked our gear to be sure we’d be warm enough. They have everything you could need to suit up for an excursion. They were short on snow the weekend we went so we used the side by side instead of the sled, but we still had a great time. Our musher, Jimmy Lebling was an excellent guide and he made for such a great experience! I learned a lot more than I expected to about the dogs and racing. Jimmy’s dogs were very friendly! We would recommend Rods and Jimmy!

Jonah was a great guide. We had an awesome time mushing. The dogs are super sweet and hard working! We will come back next time in AK.

It was cool watching the dogs follow precise instructions and the excitement that they had for pulling the sled. Bond between man and animal.

Rods is top notch. First they've got deluxe lodge accommodations for gearing up. Plenty of heated space to get all the cold weather gear on and off. (We did some other tours and had to gear up in parking lots... but not at Rod's!) Also amazing guides. We had Jimmy for our experience and he was top notch. We were able to meet and pet and take lots of pics with the dogs. They were super well cared for and so eager to get going. A great experience the whole way around and will do again!
